Serving the area for nearly 40 years, Putnam General Hospital (PGH) prides itself on quality healthcare and compassion for its patients. Located on Lake Oconee Parkway / Highway 44 near Downtown Eatonton, the hospital boasts a staff of highly trained employees who are ready to meet your healthcare needs. The community recognizes Putnam General as setting the standard, with more than 70 doctors on staff including specialists in cardiology, urology, gynecology, aesthetic surgery, orthopedics, internal medicine, podiatry and ear, nose and throat. Services such as Physical Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation are available on site.

The hospital has experienced major growth and renovation over the past 10 years. Areas that have been updated or enlarged include the Physical Therapy department, the Cardiac Rehabilitation department and the addition of another operating room.

Putnam General provides a 24-hour Emergency Department staffed by a contracted group of physicians. Emergency Department nurses are specially trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

A countywide ambulance service maintains fully equipped, advanced life support emergency vehicles, which are always on call. The service employs emergency medical technicians and paramedics who are trained in all life saving emergencies, such as motor vehicle accidents and accidental poisonings.

Lake Oconee is also home to Medical College of Georgia Medical Associates. Fulltime physicians at the 8,000 square foot facility offer care in the areas of OB/GYN, cardiology, dermatology, urology, otolaryngology, opthalmology, orthopedics, sports medicine, plastic surgery, neurology, psychiatry, pain management, general GI surgery and allergy. They also offer weekend and holiday urgent care.

There are also chiropractors located in Eatonton, and a Sleep Evaluation Center at Lake Oconee.
