Lakes Oconee and Sinclair

Eatonton is cozily nestled in between Lakes Oconee and Sinclair. The two Georgia Power Lakes offer many recreational options such as swimming, fishing and boating. Nearby areas have picturesque scenery, hiking trails, picnic areas and campgrounds.

Parks

Lawrence Shoals Park located on Lake Oconee has a full-service campground as well as day-use areas. It has a large picnic pavilion that may be reserved for groups of 30 or more. In addition, the park is equipped with playgrounds, boat ramps and a beach including a beach house with bathrooms and dressing area. Rock Hawk Park located on Lake Oconee offers an outdoor classroom that has hundreds of educational displays along the fifteen miles of trails that surround and lead to the Rock Hawk Effigy. The displays along the trail and wetlands and the indoor and outdoor interpretive centers near the effigy cover a wide variety of flora and fauna as well as 12,000 years of the area's history, including a history of Putnam County's unique large effigies.

Oconee Springs Park Carved out of the beautiful wooded area in Putnam county bordering on Lake Sinclair. The twelve acre park provides ample space for boating, fishing and other water sports. This is a commercial campground with cabins available for rent, RV hookups and a rentable pavilion for day-use. A public beach with a designated swimming area and a Little Rooster Country Store are available and visitors are always welcome. Closed on Tuesdays. Oconee National Forest

37,443 acres of the Oconee National Forest are located in Putnam County. Visitors can camp, hunt and picnic in the park.
