Date Night Ideas 2018

Spend time doing what you love most, being together. Eatonton offers a variety of activities and restaurants to make your date night special. From down-home adventures to relaxing spa getaways, Eatonton provides experiences for every couple.

  1. Lakeside Retreat

Prepare for your date night by booking a couples’ massage at Southern Laser Medical Spa (make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.) Then sip on what has been voted the “best martini on Lake Oconee” at Silver Moon, which has also been voted Best Bar and Best Restaurant by Lake Oconee Living magazine. Stay for dinner or take a short drive through Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee, a residential community with over 700 acres of fragrant Georgia pines and rolling meadows, to enjoy a world-class dinner overlooking the water at the Waterside Restaurant on Lake Oconee.  End your evening with a good night’s rest at the Lodge on lake Oconee, a nearby hotel featuring stunning views of Lake Oconee from every lakeside room and the outdoor pool. Take advantage of the amenities offered like the sauna, complimentary breakfast, and $10 paddle boat/kayak rentals.

  1. Downtown Diversions

Take a stroll or a couples bike ride through historic downtown Eatonton. Pick up a History tour guide from the Welcome Center to better explore the history of Eatonton’s antebellum buildings. Stop for dinner at The Frisk Pub, Eatonton’s newest bar and grill. The laid-back atmosphere and weekly specials like martini mondays, margherita wednesdays and karaoke Thursdays are sure to keep you entertained. Afterwards, check out a show at The Plaza Arts Center or The Eatonton Cotton Warehouse for the perfect ending to your date. A schedule of events can be found HERE. Don’t miss downtown Eatonton’s newest winter event, The Fire and Ice Festival.

  1. Easygoing Evening

Start your day by spending some well-deserved time together. Drive out to Rock Hawk Effigy and Trails to take-in some history and walk the trails. Come Happy Hour, try 44 Drafthouse and Growler Bar. With 25 craft beers on tap, there is sure to be something on the menu that each of you will enjoy. By this time, the mouthwatering smell of Georgia Butts BBQ will be drifting in from across the street. Go over and taste “the best butts in town.”  Coincidentally, this joint also has one of the best views of Lake Oconee that Putnam County has to offer!  If you finish there and are still looking for something to do, you can always catch a late showing of a movie at Parkside Main 8.

  1. Country Courting

The Eatonton area has tons of options for a truly southern date. Choose an activity that suits your sweetheart best. Maybe you enjoy shooting together. Just over the border in Hancock County, Old Hudson Plantation offers “golf with a shot gun,” a 12 station sporting clays course with 100 targets nestled in the woods. This course is appropriate for both experienced and inexperienced shooters; you will need four boxes of shells and about 2 hours. Some may prefer getting a little dirty together at Durhamtown Off-Road Park, an ATV destination in Greene County, Georgia where you can rent and ride (or bring your own) all-terrain vehicles. Explore the huge variety of 4×4 parks and trails including obstacle areas and hill-climbs.  If dry land isn’t your thing, try a guided fishing tour on Lake Oconee. There are many options for chartered fishing guides including Crappie Daze and Reel Time Guide Service. You will need at least 4 hours of your time and a valid Georgia fishing license to participate. Once you are cleaned up, end your evening with a delicious home-style meal from The Iron Fork Cafe, be sure to save room for some of their dessert options like pecan pie or peach cobbler…yummmmm
