5 Dairy Festival Experiences You Can’t Miss

  1. 10k Torture Trail Road Race

Do you like to run for fun? Join the One Mile Fun Run and the Torture Trail 10k to kick off your experience at the festival! Not only will you get to run through the historic streets of downtown Eatonton, but you will meet runners from all over the state. Start and Finish lines will be located at the First United Methodist Church on North Madison Avenue. Top 25 runners will receive long sleeve dri-fit t-shirts, while overall winners will receive $100 and an award. If you don’t enjoy running, come cheer on your friends and family as they approach the finish line!

Register by June 1, 2018 online at www.active.com or print out the application at http://www.putnamcountydairyfestival.com/torturetrailapplication2018.jpg.

  1. Parade and Tractor Show

Who doesn’t think tractors are sexy? Come stand on the sidelines of the parade to see all the old-timey and modern-day tractors, as well as floats decorated by local businesses. People of all ages can enjoy the parade, and kids don’t forget to go grab all the candy your tiny hands can hold!

OR if you would like to be in the parade yourself, download an application: http://www.putnamcountydairyfestival.com/Parade%20application2018.docx

  1. Dairy Queen

Don’t miss the crowning of the newest 2018 Dairy Queen! Each year, applicants send in a photo for the Photogenic Contest and the winners are presented at the festival. This specific contest is mainly for the high school aged girls of Putnam County, but there is also a beauty pageant for younger children. Come support all of the contestants and let them know how beautiful they all are! The Queen will receive a $1,000 prize, as well as a goodie basket with gifts from many local businesses, which the three runner-ups will also receive.

  1. Milking Demonstration

Have you ever wanted to learn where exactly milk comes from, and exactly how we get it? Well, here is your chance! A milking demonstration from a live cow will be available to watch, while a volunteer will be present to assist in the demonstration. Nothing is more fit for a dairy festival event!

  1. Free Ice Cream

The last, most important aspect of the dairy festival is FREE Mayfield ice cream! At one of the tents, you can expect employees from Mayfield to be handing out ice cream sandwiches, chocolate pops, and much more!

In addition to these five key events, don’t forget to stop by all of the vendor tents and arts & craft tables to get a better feel for what Eatonton-Putnam County has to offer. Vendors range from clothing and jewelry to handmade soaps and home furnishings. See you on June 2!
