The county's central location allows for swift access to major U. S. markets by highways, interstates, railroads, airports and sea ports.
Interstate I-20 is only 10 miles north of the county line, while just to the west, only 40 miles away is I-75, and I-16 lies just 55 miles to the south. U. S. Hwy 441 and Hwy 129 run directly through town connecting I-20 to I-16 and I-75.
Commercial air freight as well as passenger service is available at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta (75 miles away) as well as Athens (60 miles) and Macon (45 miles). Smaller airports are accessible in Greensboro (22 miles) and Milledgeville (14 miles).
Norfolk-Southern provides rail service to local industries.
Ports are available in Savannah (175 miles) and Brunswick (200 miles).
