Leadership Putnam
Over 300 Putnam County citizens have graduated from the Leadership Putnam program, learning how to become better leaders in our community.
Starting each January for ten weeks, a group of about 25 students diverse in age, gender, race and occupation meet weekly to learn about each other, our community and leadership. The program began in 1990 and has graduated 15 classes. Each class is held at a different location in our community and covers a specific topic on leadership. The students also participate in a low and high ropes course, tour of the community and a weekend retreat.
Participate in Leadership Putnam
To be considered for Leadership Putnam, a person must be nominated by two people within the community. A nomination committee of Leadership Putnam graduates is selected to review the applications and choose the participants.
Leadership Putnam creates a more educated and motivated community. Graduates choose to get involved in the community working for a cause that they are most interested in ranging from local government to non profits. Other graduates have grouped together to renovate the old Eatonton grammar school on Madison Avenue into The Arts Center, which has taken years of work and dedication. The Class of 2009 participated in the Adopt a Highway program and the class of 2010 has decided to take on a variety of projects to better our community.
